The rainfall for the month of September as recorded by Mr A. C. Erridige, Arrowtown, was as follows:~ Eainfall for month, 212 points; days on which rain fell, 9; maximum fall, 79 points on the 14th. The rainfall, for September Last jyear warn 463 points for 10 days. The Arrowtown Girls' Keep Fit class is giving a display in the Atheneum Hall on Saturday afternoon next, commencing .as 2,30 o’clock. An ihvitation is extended to those interested, especially young girts, to attend. The display wilt be interspersed with, musical items.
Owing to a ..break in the irrigation pipes, the Golden Arrow had to suspend operations for a few days last week, but elevating was again resumed on Saturday. The tributors 1 of Hamilton’s hydraulic claim have shifted l their plant, and work lias now been commenced in the Arrow river near Sawpit Gully. The return for September of the Australian-New Zealand Dredging Co. operating at Lowburn, was 1082 oz. The dredge worked 427 hours in 25 days, treating 270,000 cubic yards. The service of the purebred Clydesdale stallion, Hayton Banister, will be at the disposal of district horse breeders this week. His sire, Mossdale Sensation, was a first prize winner at the Dunedin, Horse Parade and Summer Show and was third at the Sydney Royal Show, and his dam is by the great sire Baron Bold. As a two-year-old, Hayton Barrister gained first prize in a field of nine, and as a three-year-old he was first at Win ton and second at Invercargill.
