WEDDING
GR ANT—MCDONALD,
A quiet wedding was recently solemnised at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. Invercargill, of Janet McKerchar (Netta). youngest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr D. K. McDonald, 262. Tay Street. Invercargi'l, to Alan Deny las. eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. Grant, Lake Hayea. Arrowtown.
The Rev. C. Jo. Tocker performed the ceremony and Mrs A. E. H. Bath played the organ . The church was tastefully decorated wPh daffodils and spring blossoms by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her brother. Mr Gordon McDonald, 'ware a deep cream satin frock, cut on classical lines, with a heart-shaped neckline, relieved by a small spray of orange blossom. The back was trimmed with tiny buttons, the skirt falling into a long train. She wore a gold chain and pendant . The long embroidered veil was held in place by a top knot of orange blossom. Her shower bouquet was of spring flowers. Miss Edna A. Keast was bridesmaid and wore a frock of Japonica georgette with shirred bodice .and sleeves, knd a full skirt. She carried n floral muff to tone with her frock, and wore a double string of pearls. In her hair she wore a top knot of freesias and abutilons.
The bride’s twin neices. May and Mabel McEwan. were flower girls and wore long frocks of forget-me -not blue taffetta. They carried muffs of pink flowei’s and blue forget-me-nots. Their fair hair was held fin place by a spray of forget-me-nots. They also wore a string of pearls. Mr Colin A. Grant, of Gore, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man . During the signing of the register. Miss Jean Waddell sang & sold. The reception was held at Elmwood Garden where the guests were received by Mrs McDonald and Mrs Grant. The bride’s mother wore a black floral frock under a edge-to-edge coat and black hat. Her shoulder spray was of freesias. The .bridegroom's mother also ware a floral silk frock under a black coat, black hat and a spray of flowers in her fur stole. At the reception, Mr Lawrence Adamson sang a solo. For travelling the bride wore a bycinth blue frock and hat, and navy coat, shoes and accessories'. Prior to the wedding the bride was entertained at an evening by the staff of Broad Small Ltd. and presented with, a bronze log box, and a gift afternoon by Misses Edna Keast and Amelia Me Burney .
Mr A. D. Giant, of the money order* and savings bank branch of the Chief Post Office, Invercargill, was met by the Post Office staff on the occasion of! his approaching marriage. The chief postmaster, Mr H. Miller, wished Mr Grant and his fiancee happiness in the years to come and presented Air Grant with a silver tea service. Other speakers were Mr G. P. Madden (accountant), Mr W, G. Nield (clerical branch), and Mr E, J. Tetter (money order branch). Mr Grant replied.
