RUGBY FOOTBALL
PAST v PRESENT Past and present players staged a bright game of football on the local ground on Saturday. The old hands won on the day largely owing to the inclusion of four of the Hillside workshop jnen Messrs Hill, McKewan ..Curisey and Pearce, who were in the town on steamer work. Hill represented Otago during ...the 1938-39 season and lie proved a tower of strength to the side. When the “old buffers” got their second wind, they threw the ball about in good style. Infringements were frequent but the referee dealt leniently with offenders. The -game was fairly even as the score —8 to 0 —indicates'. Much good humour prevailed between the players and the spectators were given their full monevsworth. The tries were scored for past players by Boh. Davidson and O. Allan. Herb. Pearce adding the extra points to the first try. P. Mcßride scored the onlv try for the losers, and W. Robins kicked «• penalty goal. Mr J. T. Lynch was referee. The teams were: Present—J. Taylor; F.
