BOWLING.

CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR_ TOURNAMENTS. I As usual, a large number of visiting bowlers have come to Quenstown for the holidays. There are many familiar faces amongst the fraternity and there are others present who have not tasted of the joys of participating in the games on the Park greens. The tournament which takes place in Queenstown holds a particular fascination for many “wood trundlers” who prefer short sweepstake matches in place of a whole week’s strenuous play. The two greens are in excellent condition, thanks to the efforts of the Park garden staff. Messrs J. Nisbet and Vic. Scandrett are again in charge of the arrangements. Prior to the commencement of play Mr Jas. Nisbet, one of the Dunedin veterans of the Queenstown greens, formally welcomed the visiting players He counselled players to play the game in the Christmas spirit and accept the rulings of those in charge. The following are the details of the Christinas Day tournament:— —First Round.—
