Sharpe. Mr C. Hume earned out the duties of M.C. On Saturday evening a farewell dance was held in Glenorehy Hall in honour of Miss Symonds and Miss Macleod, teachers of Glenorehy and Rees. Valley schools, respectively, who are now leaving the district. At an interval, Mr D. K. Knowles, in hia usual bright and breezy manner, presented both young ladies with gifts •from Head of Lake friends as ty memento of their sojourn in, the district. Mr Knowles spoke in eulogistic terms of the excellent work done by both teachers, and expressed regret at their impending departure. Miss Symonds and Miss Mac leod thanked the company for their (gifts and good wishes, also for the hospitality which had been extended to them. “For They are Jolly Good Fellows” was heartily sung and" cheers given for two popular young ladles. Music for the dance was supplied by the Glenorehy orchestra, Mrs A. Scott (piano), Mrs D. (Spott ( and G. Scott (violins), F. Heffernan (guitar), A. Reid (flute), A. Scott (banjo), R. Scott (drums).
