PERSONAL NOTES.

Mrs R. McConville has gone away on a short holiday. Mrs D. J. Braden was a passenger for Invercargill yesterday. Mrs J. McNeil of Church Street, is visiting friends at Gatlins.

Mr T. J. Quayle. postmaster Wellington South, 1 was a visitor to to Queenstown at the week-end.

Mr and Mrs Elliot of Greenstone went to Dunedin on Saturday last for a few days.

Police Inspector Gibson, Invercargill, made a periodical visit to the district last week. Miss Gordon returned to Garston after spending a few days with Mrs A. Boyne, Queenstown. Mr Mowatt. ship’s surveyor, is paying an official visit to Queenstown. rn J _ Mr A. H. Mcßride, Lower Shotovcr. was a passenger for the south on Tuesday. Mr G. St. V. Keddell. Invercargill, passed through Queenstown early in the week on his way to Central Otago. Mr Jim Lynch has gone to Hollyford, having secured employment with the Public Works Dept, on the tunnel job. Miss Miller McLean, Wharehuanui, returned to Oamaru early in the veek after spending the vacation with her parents. Miss H. Earl and returned last evening, bringing with her her sister-in-law, Mrs W. H. Garland, Dunedin. Mr and Mrs Geo. Miles, jr., Invercargill. came to Queenstown at the week-end. Mr Miles has returned, but Mrs Miles will remain for the next two weeks. Mrs J- Ellison arrived nor ML Cook bus last evening and wont on to Walter Peak to stay for a week or so with her parents, Major and Mrs P. Mackenzie. Mrs Lindsay and her son, Mr Gordon Lindsay, 'lnvercargill, motored to Queenstown last week-end, and were the guests of Mrs Lindsay s aunt, Mrs J. S. Collins.

Messrs E. Varcoe, G. Thompson, J. J. Marlow, and A. Edgar (chairman, of directors Central Shotoyer Co.), visited their several mining claims at the week-end. The engagement is announced and the wedding will shortly take tdace of Valarie, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Lafranchi, Cardrona, and Peter, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs Fox, Monaghan, Ireland.
