Queenstown Football Club.

ANNUAL ‘‘SMOKO.” The annual “smoko” of the Queenstown Football Club was held in the Garrison Hall on the evening of the 23rd ult. There was a good attendance of members and supporters of the three district clubs, and a very pleasant social evening was spent. Mr J. McMullan, juur., president of the Club, occupied the chair. In his opening remarks he' referred to the object of the evening, which was to wind up what had been a very successful iseason, as the locat club had the honour of annexing both senior and junior cups, it also helped to bring the players of the various oiubs together, thus creating a closer fellowship amongst players, both on and off the held. The feature of tTre evening was the presentation of the Sub-union cups by the president of the Sub-union, Mr AV airing. In handing’ the coveted trophies to the captains of both fifteens Air J. Ogilvy (seniors) and AAV Summers (juniors), Air Warring congratulated both teams on their successes. He also complimented the team on the high standard of football played throughout the season. Special mention was made of the coach, Air J. Todd, whose untiring efforts were well rewarded by his team winning the cup. In conclusion. Air AV airing said that Queenstown Football Club were very lucky indeed in having such energetic officials at their head, and he wished the teams the best of luck in the future.

Messrs Ogilvy and Summers suitably replied. The following toast list was gone ■through:—‘‘The King," proposed by the chairman; ‘‘Queenstown Football Club.” proposed by Mr Warring, responded to by Mr J. McMullan; “Referees,” proposed by Mr T. Ryan, responded to by Messrs J. Todd and AY. Warring; ‘‘Sister Clubs,” H. A. Knowles, responded to by Messrs H. Boss (Country), AY. Warring, junr., (Arrow), J. Summers (Glenorchy), “Sub-Union,” proposed by H. A. Knowles, responded to by Messrs W. Warring. J. Todd, J. McMullan, K. Cri'tchfiekl (secretary), W. Brown and T. Ryan; “Kindred Sports,” by Mr J. Todd, responded to by Messrs J. T, Lynch (Cricket), Padget (Boxing and rowing), W. Warren (Bowling) . J. Miller (Tennis), A. Sims on (Rifle shooting), J. Munro (Gun club): “The Press, proposed by Mr F. Padget, responded to by Mr AYarren. The following provided the musical items: Messrs M. Hunter and J. Lynch (pianoforte solos), H. Armour (violin), F. Padget (banjo). Stewart (vocal solos). J. Lynch (ventriloquist), A. Tripp (vocal solo), and H. Holland (vocal solo).
