Distress in the Cities.

QUEENSTOWN CONTRIBUTES RELIEF. ilrs Geo. Mackenzie of Lake View, Queenstown, who made an appeal through the columns of the Mail for contributions of clothes and materials suitable for making into garments for the relief of distress among the poor and needy of Dunedin, has received the following letter from Mrs R. S. Black, the Mayoress, which speaks for itself: Dear Mrs Mackenzie —I have received your quilts and clothing. What a Godsend! I delivered them all this morning to several families who are in a very bad way. In one in particular there were ten in the family and they had practically no bed covering. If you only knew how grateful these people are it would do your heart good. Please thank all the women who have spent their time making such useful articles. Anything farther you can send will be most gratefully received, and you may rest assured that what you send will go to needy cases. Again thanking you. Yours sincerely, H. Black, Mayoress.” It is deserving of mention that the effort referred to was organised by Mrs Geo. Mackenzie, who has always taken a leading part in all philanthropic movements in Queenstown.
