THE WAR LOAN.
OVER 15} MILLIONS SUBSCRIBED. U roiii Our Owl Correspondent.) By telegraph this day. Sir Joseph Ward will make a da- , tailed statement regarding the War L-uau in a few days. The amount alread* received exceeded 15J millions. The largest single subscription wae a-quarter of a million. There wss * fair number of large subscriptions, but; a substantial proportion of the total was provided by relatively smalll investors. Over £3,000,000 came, through postal offices. The result of w the loan is very gratifying. It removes all apprehensions regarding the ability of the Dominion to complete £22,000,000 required for a year's war. The Treasury will continue to accept subscriptions for some time and it is likely that the sale of War Cer-, .. tificates and Post Office Bonds will be continued. • * DISTRICT INVESTMENTS.
