Mr Cornelius Maher, another of the old miners who emigrated to Otago in the early sixties, died at his residence, Arrowtown, yesterday. Deceased had reached the ripe age of 87 years so that death might be attributed to a general break-up of his health. The late Mr Maher or "Con," which name he was better known by, was born in Tipperary, Ireland. He came out to Victoria in 1856 and followed mining for several years, sailing from thence for New Zealand and finally settling down in the Cromwell district. He carried on mining in Bendigo where he was very successful. Declining years caused him to retire from active work and he then removed to Arrowtown, where he has lived for seven or eight years past. Deceased was a married man but his wife died several years ago. He was of a genial disposition and was vdry inoffensive. The fi neral will take place to-morrow.
