CUP FIXTURES. POSITIONS OF THE TEAMS.

The second round of the Cup Fixtures was played last Wednesday between Queenstown and Remarkables when the former were victorious by 19 points to 8. The game was a fairly even one in the first spell, but Queenstown had the best of it in the second. Remarkables did not have a very strong team, having to play with some of the juniors. W. 1). Warren controlled the game. The above game gave Queenstown 6pts, which carries with it the cup, as the most that either the Remarkables or Arrow can get is 4pts. The S.R.F.U. having upheld the appeal of the Arrow Club against the decision of the Wakatipu Sub-union in awarding the match on 20th July to Queenstown Club, this match will be played at an early date. The captains of each club have to mutually agree to a referee. The points in the Flag matches are now, as follows: —Queenstown 8, Arrow 6.

It is likely that the Alpine Club will play the return match against Queenstown on Saturday next on the local ground. Wellington beat Otago on Saturday last by 19 to 6. Auckland beat Canterbury in the final Ranfurly shield match by 6 to 4.
