LOWER SHOTOVER.

TROU OCH OWX OOBBUPONDINt. October 29th. After some years of quiet Lower Shotover lias been again invaded by the showman. Two of them within a week of each other have thought it worth while to atop here. The first. Mr H. Mull, showed a large number of living pictures, historical, educational and funny, but all entir:aiuing. What with these, the gramophone and the dolls to amuse the children two hours wer-i made to pa>s quickly and Mr Hull had no reason to regret stopping at Lower Shotov*r. Mr Thomas, who followed iu a few days, relied rather upon his own .skill than upon machinery. Cards, coins and other solids were made to appear and disappear like magic. Hi* vt-ntriloquial powers are considerable, but he should teach his dolls to know when they are iu respectable company. His show wai not bo well patronised as the former. I hear now that a concert is expected to be held in three or four weeks' time in aid of the picnic fuud. This is the people's own matter aud they generally attend to it well and no doubt this year it will be as good as those pist. The Shotover River has been higher than usual during the past winter, but as yet there has been no heavy spring flood though the river is slowly rising. Since writing the above, 3 p.m. this morning; the river has risen considerably and there seems every probability of a flood.
