QUEENSTOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY.
An adjourned meeting of above was held on Monday, 2<)th instant. Present—Rev. J. Jones (president), Rev. D. Ross, and Messrs G. M. Ross, T. G. Betts, Park, M. J. Malaghan, H. J. Finn, J. Rogers R. Neill and F. 11. Daniel (hon. Sec.) Mr Neill reported that the books had been catalogued ; and the sub-committee recommended the sale of several classes of books. It was resolved that a vote of thanks be accorded to Mr H. A. Rout for his past services. The following tenders were opened for the post of Librarian :—R. Wilson, 1*35 per annum; C. B. Smith, £3O ;T. M'Carthy, £2O. Tho * latter was appointed. Resolved that the books mentioned in report be left in the hands of Librarian for sale for one month, after that period the remainder to be sold by auction. It was decided to sell the London News and Punch in lots of 12 or 20.
