The Westlnnd County Council has resolved to set aside 25,000 acres of land on the Haast ltivir for the purpose of establishing a special settlement unler Part, 11. of the Westland Waste Land Act, 1870. It will be noticed by our advertising columns that the Wakatip Agricultural and Association have issued the Programme for their first Annual Show, to be held at Mr F M'Uride's Farm on the 20th instant. At a meeting last week it was a question whether the Saciety should hare a Show this year, in consequence of the lateness of the season. Ultimately it was resolved (and we think wisely) to hold the Gathering. The affair had beeu previously notified, and the public expected to see it come off'.
