NEWS AND NOTES. •Amytlms is still on tho easy list, but F. D. Jones will probably make a start shortly on the big gelding, in view of autumn engagements. Ho has got over his blistering and appears to be quite sound.

The five-year-old Happy Captain, by Treadmill —Fairhaven, has resumed work at lliocarton, under the care of C. P. Buckenlinni. He was operated on for wind troubles a few months ago, and from present nppearancos he appears to have come through very successfully. The big gelding looks well, and there is every prospect that ho will develop into a useful racing prospect.

P. M’Grath has taken in hand a two-year-old by Clarenceux from Reject, the" dam of Sea Blue.
