TRUCK SHORTAGE.

DEPARTMENT'S EXPLANATION. [From Our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON. November 24. Truok shortage and congestion of traffioat Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch are due, according to the Railway Department, to large cargoes of coal which have recently arrived from overseas. Under present conditions coal has to be given preference. There have also been abnormally large general imports. New goods shed accommodation is being pushed on at Christchurch, but had it been available it would not have overcome this week's difficulty, the position im that district beuig accentuated by recent delays ta business through Carnival Week. > Though no definite information is yet to hand regarding the supplies of engines and trucks contracted for in England the' contractors are making arrangements for shipments of a large number of wheels and axles for trucks, which will be sent to New Zealand ready for a&sembly.
