A well-attended meeting of the congregation of St Andrew's Presbyterian Church decided to resign from the Church and to form a new Church under tbje pastorate of the Rev A. A. Murray, who was suspended fmm the pastorate of St Andrew's on account of his disbelief of the Presbyterian practice regarding infant baptism. Tho meeting comprised some 300 persons, and included members of other churches, who had become associated with, St Andrew's. It was unanimous on all points except the matter of what the new Church should be named. It was stated that Mr Murray himself favoured such a title as Independent Presbyterian Church, but no decision was reached. Mr Murray is assured of a minimum salary of £450 per annum.
