A resolution protesting against treatment of war pensioners by the Government was carried at a meeting of the executive of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association last night, when delegates to attend the Dominion executive meeting were appointed. The resolution is as follows: — This executive expresses its strong disapproval at the unjust treatment or •war pensioners by the Government. It holds that instead of sotting aside the altogether inadequate sum of £50,000, thus mating it necessary for a person to prove his need before receiving any benefit, it should liavo increased pensions commensurate with the increase in the cost of living, so that every totally disabled man could have claimed it as a right and not as a favour. It further expresses its "keen disappointment that the just claim of partially disabled men and the dependents of fallen soldiers has been entirely ignored. It deplores the fact that while several days were spent in discussing racing permits, .the important question of war pensions legislation was rushed through in the dying hours of the session without any opportunity for discussion. It now calls upon the Government to prepare a comprehensive scheme of war Sns legislation and to circulate it next session.” It is easy to lose your pencil or fountain pen- The Up-to-Date Clasp holds pen or pencil securely in your vest pocket.
