BRITAIN AND RUSSIA.
NEGOTIATIONS FOR TRADE AGREEMENT. By Telegraph—Preen Association—Copyright. Reuter's Telegrams. LONDON, October 7. M. Krassin has sent a letter to Mr Llovd George detailing at great length Russia’s requirements in manufactured goods and raw materials, urging tho speediest completion of a trade agreement. He points out that vast orders for locomotives and other railway materials could bo plaoed in Britain, also orders for engineering machinery and tools, motor lorries, electrical _ appliances, chemicals, medical supplies and textiles. Apparently the Bolsheviks’ efforts to linanco a gold operation at lteval failed. The Soviet no longer proposes to pay in gold, but promises produce and goods, gold being merely deposited at Roval as security for a loan from British banka, and only in the event of goods not being forthcoming in a year could the gold at Reval l>o employed. This arrangement is not favoured by British financiers. AN UNSATISFACTORY REPLY. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. (Received October 8, 3 p.m.) LONDON, October 7. The Bolshevik reply to the British Note is not wholly satisfactory. Though it offers to release British subjects upon conditions, scarcely _ any mention ;s made regarding ceasing propaganda in Britain and Asia. Britain therefore is pending another Note, requiring a definite answer, with a time limit.
