In tho Bradford wool tops market thoro is a slightly better inquiry, but business is only done when favourable to buyers. FRUIT. New Zealand apples brought by the Port Napier were mostly in good condition, but tho pears were practically worthless. GRAIN. AND PRODUCE. The wheat market is flat, and nothing is offering. Flour is quiet. Oats are easier. La Plataa on spot 59s Gel to 60s. Peas and beans are inactive, and prices are unchanged. Sugar is unchanged. BUTTER. The Australian Press Association learns that tho Government will probably suggest that the purchase price of Australian and New Zealand butter shall be fixed on the basis of Danish summer prices. It iB understood the Government is anxious to decontrol butter at the earliest date, and is therefore disinclined to purchase twelve months ahead. METALS. Tin—Spot £240 5«; forward £213 ss. Silver—s9&d per oi. TALLOW. Messrs Booh end Co.'s London houeo has oabled under date Dune 16 that no tallow auctions had been held that day owing, to quiet trade. They quoted the following nominal values :-Edible mutton 665; edible beef 86s; good mutton 84s 6dj good beef 80s; good clour 80s; no colour 7os 6d; gut 72s 6d. They also further advise that prices are likely to decline about £2 10s per ton further.
