RENOWN v. CHRISTCHURCH rr. , . TEAMS. iwo Association football matches were played at English Park yesterday afternoon between local clubs and representatives of the Renown The cold wind affeoted tho attendance of tho public. The curtain-raiser ma^e \ between the Linwcod juniors and Renown boys under eighteen years. The game was very one-sided, the sailors provin* much superior to their opponents, and winning by seven goals to nil. The goal-kickers were Edds (2), Booker, Millar, Lee, Cavie and Chartier. Mr P. L. Davis was the referee. The senior game was between teams from the Renown and the Rangers Club.' Tne following were the players:—Renown—^ Weeden, Vidlor, M’Bwon, Collinson, Tandy, White, Coombes, Williams, Young, Mundy and Gordon. Rangers—Perry, Burton, Lusk, Borwais, Flood, Graham, Powell; Shaw, Spencer, Barweil and Rumens. Referee, Mr E. Audibert. Rangers kicked off, but sailors got possession and Mundy scored. Rangers equalised a few minutes later, Spencer putting tho ball through. The game was somewhat scrambling, play being mostly in the Rangers’ ground. No further score resulted up to half-time. The second half was somewhat one-sided, the sailors keeping Rangers on the defensive practically throughout. Poor goal shooting of the Renown forwards and the very commendable defence displayed by Rangers’ goal-keeper alone prevented a large score against the Christchuroh team. Just before the dose, Williams shot a goal and the game ended in favour of Renown by two goals to one.
After the match the visitors were ontertained at tea by their opponents, and subsequently both teams visited the Opera House as the guests of the management.
