LONDON, May 12A representative of the “ Excelsior,” a Perth publication, has returned after an exhaustive tour of Russia. He declares that 300,000 people died in Petrograd from typhns last winter, and that most of the publio buildings are converted into hospitals. Nearly 700.000 people are reduced to eating herbs and grass. The price of food is beyond imagination. UKRANIANS OCCUPY ODESSA. Reuter's Telegrams. LONDON, May 12. It is officially reported, that the Ukrainians have occupied Odessa. Warsaw reports state that on May 10 the Bolsheviks recrossed the Dnieper. Reinforced by fresh troops irorn the north and south they violently attacked the Polish position defending the approaches to Ivieff. The Poles maintained their positions, capturing two batta/lions. Enemy uieropLynlas bombarded Ivieff.
