WOMEN’S FRANCHISE BILL. By Telegraph —Press Association—O ipyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. CAPE TOWN, May 11. The “Assembly, by 66 to 47, granted leave for the introduction of a private Bill extending the franchise to women. General Smuts, while strongly in favour of the principle, said it was desirable that the matter should be dealt with on non-party lines, therefore the Government could not father the Bill. He urged the House to give the Bill a chance.
