ANNUAL MEETING*. X&o annual meeting of the New Zoaland Utility Poultry Club was hold on Tuesday ovoning, In the absence of tho president, owing _to ill-hoalth, Mr Arthur Smith, tho originator of egg-laying competitions in the Dominion, was "voted to tho chair. Tho competitions had proved the gicatost educational fcroo tho poultry world of this Dominion had known A. feature of tho fifteenth competition, -was tho very fine performance of tho birds, which, in the judges' opinion, at the commencement, conformed nearest to tho standard of perfection. pi vo hundred end fifty-three fowls and ducks (including 5 per cent of deaths) yielded £1 lis id per bird in eggs, <sr lf7a 10d per bird over cost of 'feeding) siid providing scratching material. The icport and balance-sheet were cdoptcd. Iho chairman presented blue ribbons to tho successful exhibitors at tho young bird show, Mossra H. Hunter, T. Batchelor, G. H. Bradford, IT. Beck r.nd J. Robortscn. Certificates won in the competitions were also presented to Messrs Lagans (S), T. E. Conway, H. Williams ('.!), Green Bros. (2), W, T. Green, C. Reun and H. W. Beck (2). Mr Onnandy was prosented with a goldmounted pen for his many years' work in checking the club's figures. Tho following officers were elected:— Patrons, Lady Clifford and Mr John Studholme; vice-patrons, Messrs A. Smith, H. Herbert, R. W. Hawk©, T. G. Fox. S. Wha-10, 0. Witty, M.P., T. 11. Bavov, A. G. Adama {Sheffield), W. Knight (Wellington), Mrs Mills (Dimedin); secrotary, Mr J. Shaw; treasurer, Mr T. Batcbel-or; honorary auditor, Mr Wyloa. The following were eloctcd a Com initios:—Mossrs W. T. A very hearty vote of thanka was passed to tho Press for the valuable space given to tho publication of tho ogg-laying competitions.
The club expressed its appreciation of the work Mr J. 13. Merrett had done for the club and the .poultry industry. He -was wished a pleasant tnn nnd safe return from his extended tour to California.
