MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the OhristSS-ciAranch of tho*t™d Soldiers' Association was held on luofrdaTthe Rev W. Walker prosing. Fifty now members were elected, including threo nursing sisters. A letter was eceived from tho secretary oi the Highland Pipe Band, offering then services on Friday for the returned soldiers' parade. 'Bo offer was accepted with thanks. , _ A letter was received from the Ueneral Manager, Ohristdhurch lYamway lWrd in answer to representations made 'by tho association, stating that tho board could not see its way to grant free passes to legless and totally disabled soldiers. It was stated that tins practice was fcing earned out in \\ cliinaton and Dunedin, and a deputation was appointed to wait on tho Chnstchurch Tramway Board with a view to getting the decision reconsidered. A letter was received from tho Lommissionor of Crown lonia, stating it had been decided that all legal work under tho Discharged Soldiors' Settlement Act, which had been previously clone by one solicitor, would in future be divided by all returned soldier eolicitors whoso nominations were *pproved. . ~ It was decided to invite legal members of the association to send in their nominations for this work. On tho motion of Mr A. If. Spratt, it was decided that the club should in future remain open till 10.30 p.m. on weak days, and that a previous resolution closing the club from 12-2 and 5-7 on Sundays, should bo rescinded.
