MAGISTRATE’S COURT
| : CHRISTCHURCH. I Mr S. E. M’Carthy, S.M., presided over yesterday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court. Three first offenders were each fined ss, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. 1 William Simraonds, a second offender, Ijvas lined 10s, in default - forty-eight fours’ imprisonment. Albert. Blandford and John Ryan fvhero each fined £1 for being drunk |n a railway carriage. Henry Mcnary, who appeared on a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond, was remanded for medical observation. v Gordon Thomas Amundsen, a youth, was charged with stealing on March 1, at Christchurch, a man’s bicycle, valued at £ls, belonging to William Martin, 'arid stealing another bicycle on Febru- . ary 10, a.t Pet-one, valued at £6, belonging to Thomas Seholefield. Accused was ordered to undergo a year’s reformative ! treatment on the first charge, and it was decreed that the stolen property should be returned .to its owner. In respect of the second charge accused' was remanded to appear in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court en Friday. ■ David Courtney (Mr Cuningham) was charged with disobedience of two maintenance orders. The arrears were stated to be £59 10s on one order and £43 15s on the other. ' , Ada Ellis was granted separation! from Nicholas White Ellis, and main- ; tenance at the rate of £1 12s Gd per j Week, with guardianship. j Alexander Thomson was convicted or 1 disobedience of his maintenance order in respect of Lily Sarah Tliomson (Mr Cuningham), and sentenced to six months’, imprisonment, the warrant | riot to be issued until applied for. j ■ Charles Mendham Wiilcox was sen- 1 fenced to two months’ imprisonment for j disobedience of a maintenance order in i respect of Daisy Wiilcox, no warrant to j qe issued until applied for. * John Alexander Wheeler (Mr K. M. frosson) was charged by his wife, Rose fheeler, who was represented by Mr Raphael, with procuring liquor during the currency cf his prohibition order. Defendant was ordered to come up for sentence when called! upon.
