POULTRY INDUSTRY.
♦ [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, March 9. The tenth annual'conference of delegates representing the societies affiliated to the New Zealand Poultry Association was opened to-day. The delegates, who came from all parts of the Dominion, were accorded a civic welcome. The secretary’s report stated that excellent progress had been made by the association during the past year, the finances being buoyant, and three societies having affiliated. The report added that until the Government secured the [producer against tho encroachment of foreign eggs and guaranteed ample poultry food, production would be leaned and the public w'ould havo to pay dearly f or eggs. The conference resolved that the Government should be requested to place poultry experts on the same basis as dairy instructors rcsosctum salary.
