SWIMMING.
HORNBY SCHOCI*. Tho Hornby School swimming carnival was held on Saturday under ideal conditions. The carnival was organised by the School Committee in order to raise sufficient funds to repair and improve the baths, and the eh airman stated that the amount required for the work was £IOO. A donation of £23 had been made by the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, and it was expected that tho net results of the carnival would be in tho vicinity of £l2. A £ for £ suhridy from the Indexation Department would bring tho funds almost to the required amount. Mr J. Leslie (chairman of the Paparua County Council) presented the prizes at tho conclusion of the programme. Results: — 50 Yards, boys under eighteen yeare—A. Still 1, fl. Kenworthy 2, H.
