Poland has practically completed the occupation of the authorised territory in West Prussia, thereby regaining access to the sea. The commandant at Fiume sent a protest to Sir Eric DrumSaond at Rome denying the right of the League of Nations to interfere in the Adriatic question. The protest added: "It now is clear that the League is nothing but representatives of the Great Powers wishing to impose their hegemony on. the rest of the world- The commandant sends greetings of solidarity to Ireland, India and Egypt. Sir Henry M'Cardie, in the Divorce Court, in an important considered judgment regarding damages to which ai husband is entitled when his wife is lured away, laid down that damages should be based on the following considerations:—First, the actual value of the wife to the husband as housekeeper or help in business; second, proper compensation for injury to the husband's marital honour; third, if the wife was of wanton disposition this lessened her value; fourth, damages should not be given against a co-respondent who was not aware the woman was married. A wife who poses as single must be deemed valueless. The Court had no right to punish misconduct, and damages should not be punitive. A woman could not sue another woman for taking her husband away. The law held that a wife had no such right to a husband's services as the husband possessed regarding his wife's. Britain in January paid off fifty millions of debt out of surplus revenue. A London message states that Cope's Antarctic aeroplane is nearing completion. Its trials will be made in Iceland instead of Scandinavia'. D'Annunsio has released General Nigra. The Polish Parliament passed a Bill esffiluding from citizenship a hundred thousand Jews formerly residing in Russian Poland, who are not registered as permanent residents under the old Russian law. English Jews protest that this means that they are liable to have their property confiscated as foreigners, though still liable to taxation and military service. Railroad Administrator BSnes refused to grant wage increases demanded by two million United States railway workers, on the ground that the rail administration could not economically grant such increases in view of the fact that the railroad would soon revert to private ownership.
