U.S.A.’S CONTENTION UPHELD.

Tho secretary of tho Returned Soldiers’ Association has forwarded a- resolution to tho City Council, carried at a recent meeting 'of tho executive, taking strong exception to the suggestion of the City Council that Anzac Day should be commemorated on a Sunday in lieu of April 25. It was further urged that Anzac Day should bo observed ns a holiday. When tin's letter came up last evening, Councillor Agar said that tho council would be very wanting in tact if it did nob accede to tho association’s wishes. Ho would move that the day should 1)0 observed ns desired by tho association.

Councillor Flesher said the wish was to have tho day a h'oly day and not as a holiday. Councillor Hunter thought that they should express a wish that tho day should be observed on tho date dosired.

Councillor Harper snnportod this, and the motion was carried.
