"OUR DAY."
RESULT OF EFFORT. Tho final meeting of the " Our Day " Committee was held yesterday afternoon; present—Mr J. A. Flesher (chairman), Colonel R- A. Chaffey, Dr E. Levinge, and Messrs A. E. G. Rhodes J. Richardson, W. B. Fox, G. Gould, P. L- Hallenstein, A. F. Carey, H. L. Bowker and G- L. Donaldson. An apology was received for the absence of Mr E. Nordon. Mr Gould, honorary treasurer, said the gross sum obtained was £34,756 6s sd, and the expenses amounted to £786 9s 3d, leaving a balance of £33,969 17s 2d. The total expenses amounted to about 2$ per cent, and the expenses of running amounted.to 16s 5d per £IOO. The sum of £IB,OOO, representing Canterbury's share of the Dominion's contribution to the British Red Cross Society, had been paid, and the sum of £12.000, which had been in the Savings Bank, and the balance of £3909 17s 2d hnd been paid to the executive of tho Canterbury Red Cross Society to meet local general Red Cross work. The payment of the sums stated was approved and the balance-sheet was adopted. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Gould for his work as honorary treasurer.
