NEWS AND NOTES. Tho second day of the Dunedin Jockey Club’s meeting and the third day of the Auckland Racing Club’s fixture will be held to-day. Bore and Post Haste are booked to race at the Auckland meeting to-day, but the two iliccarton hurdlers, Art and Euripos, have been allowed to clrdp out of tneir engagements. Yolo, who won the Raukawa Cup, the principal event on the opening day of the Otaki meeting this week, had previously shown a liking for that course under winter conditions, as he was successful in the Iluia Handicap on the second day of the meeting held a year ago. Klilmsh 1 has proved a good stake earner for A. M’Aulay since he took the Kilbroney gelding to the North Island. A few wefeks ago he captured the Easter Handicap at tho Wairarapa meeting and yesterday he won the Huia Handicap at Otaki. 1 Harold Dillon was the most successful sire represented at the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting, three of his progeny being winners—all on the first .day. ■ Four Chimes and Advance each claimed two winners, the sires with one winner being Diadem, Wildwood Junior, Bellman, Australian Parole, Gold Bell, Starchild, California, Prince Imperial and Driftwood. It was decided to write to the club, pointing out that as the race had been von by Rita Dillon, the judge should have placed the bona first, notwithstanding the action of her rider in failing to weigh in alter tho iaco. •

Permission was granted to Mr E. J. Smith to give a demonstration to the members of tUe board of a new starting machine. It was decided to fix the minimum stakes for trotting events at £65. A grant of £25 14s, out of the Provident) Fund, was passed to J. M. Clarke, who had mil with an accident.
