EQUITABLE DISTRIBUTION. \ AMENDED REGULATIONS GAZETTED. [Per Press Association.] ' WELLINGTON, June 4. In order to enable the Coal 1 r-ado Committees to have closer control over the coal supply to householders, to secure equitable distribution, amended regulations have, stated the Hon A. M. Myers to-day, been approved by Cabinet, and gazetted. They provide that not*more than ten hundredweights oi coal shall be delivered to any one person tit any time, and not more than cue ton in any one period of twentyeight days, in placo of one and tux tons respectively as previously. It.i provided in this regulation for the Minister in charge, by notice in the “ Gazette,” to declare that in any area or areas specified no coal shall be delivered without a permit; issued by the Coal Trade Committee controlling the area concerned. The latter regulation is being brought into operation in WeJ' ling ton as from Monday next, and E is hoped that it will enable the Wellington Coal Trade Committee to exercise stricter control over the distribution, especially in regard to domestic supplies. DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. . [Per Press -Association.] DUNEDIN, June 4. A deputation from tho Bruce County Council asked the Hon W. D. S. MacDonald, as Minister of Mines, to support a petition to be presented to Parliament asking the Government to take over and extend tho Taratu and Kaitangata privately owned railway lines and connect them so as to provide om l system for working the coal area, which at present puts out' 450. tons daily, and which, with tho alterations suggested, could put out 3000 tons. At present the private companies c6uld block companies to be formed from carrying coal. The Minister said a report, on the whole coal mines of the Dominion had been prepared with suggestions, and would be discussed by Cabinet next Monday.
