Heaven forbid that drugs should ever get the hold of New Zealand that whisky and beer have got! Then kill both devils, and keep them killed. You’ve got a bead on drugs already through your legislation. Get a bead on whisky and pull the trigger on April ,10. What is the matter with the Trade? Why is it so terribly anxious to save you from going to hell on cocaine at half a guinea a sniff? Why isn’t it anxious to stop you going to hell on whisky at ninepence a nip? Why? Because it doesn’t trade in cocaine. It does trade in whisky, J This is for you, old ’nn. You had to dodge temptation when you were young, and it was pretty hard. How much harder is it. now, when the lure of beer and whisky is multiplied a thousandfold ! Think of that boy of yours, and see to it that he gets a better chance of a clear run in life than his father had. Keep your eye on the cost of living and cut out tho waste. The invoice value of the spirits imported last year was £BI6:fKX). That was tHe sum which was lost to the country. Save it, and the revenue problem solves itself. Shut down on the liquor trade and you won’t have to worry about the cost of living. The Liquor Trade Is a parasite—all parasite. It doesn’t contribute one farthing to the prosperity of the country. It sucks the life-blood out of a people. Cut it right off on April 10th. Don’t I ' rob the poor man of hia beer, wails tho brewer. You can hot your hat that if the poor man clings to his beer, it’s the beer that keeps him poor. Don’t worry about the majority on April 10th. Put in YOUR pill against the Trade, and the majority will be all right. One man with GOD is a majority, says a great philosopher. Make sure that YOU are that) man! 1
