At the annual meeting of the Australian section of tho Empire Press Union, the report referred to tho difficulties of cablo communication and to tho increasingly urgent need for tho duplication of the Pacific cablo between Vancouver and Fanning Island. _ The chairman, referring to the likelihood of direct wireless communication between Australia, and Europe in tlie near future, said that whether it would bo practicable for Press purposes remained to bo seen, but at least it would do much to relieve the pressure on the cable lines.
