ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

A WATERSIDER'S DEATH. The death occurred at the Christchurch Hospital at a quarter past eleven on Monday night, of William James Chapman, waterside worker at Lyttelton, and whoso place of residence was 92, Fisher Street, Sydenham. Deceased was a single man, and on December 19, while engaged on the s.s. Rosamond at Lyttelton, was struck on the hips by one of the lifeboats falling from the davits- He was taken to the Lyttelton Casualty Ward, where he was examined by Dr Upham, who ordered his removal home. Two days later ho was ordered to the Christchurch Hospital.

SUDDEN DEATH. William Walsh, sixty-five years of age, was found dead in an outhouse at his nephew's residence, Papanui, on Tuesday. There were no indications as to the cause of death. An inquest will bo held to-day. at 9 a.m. • An old man named John William Green was found lying under a hedge at the corner of Grant's Road and Proctor Street, Papanui, yesterday, his condition indicating that he was suffering from some illness-. He was removed to the Hospital, where it was found that he was suffering from pleurisy. His condition is not critical. Thomas Boddington, aged twentyseven, who resides at 105. Colombo Street, fell down the lift well at Messrs Wardell's on Saturday, sustaining injuries to his buck which necessitated his removal to the Hospital. An examination showed that his. injuries were not of a serious nature. Boddington is employed as a storeman at Messrs W?.' : * dell's. A middle-aged man named W. Hays, residintr at Marshland, was admitted to the Hospital on Tuesday suffering from severe injuries to the bead. He was driving a milk cart when he collided with a tramcar at the corner of lioale.y Avenue and Colombo Street.
