TRAMWAY DISPUTE.

THE DISMISSED MEN. NOTICE OF MOTION. Mr W. J. Walter, a member of the Tramway Board, has given the following notice of motion: — '•'That tho six motormen who were recently dismissed be immediately reinstated to their former positions." _ A requisition calling for a special meeting of the board has been signed by the required 'number of members, and a meeting will probably bo held during the current week;

TIME ALLOWANCES. Mr H. Hunter, secretary of tho Tramwaymen's Union, stated on Tuesday that there was one matter which, although seemingly a very trivial one, was nevertheless interfering with the process of settlement of the mens grievances, and that was the question of time allowances. Ho said that an allowance of ton minutes was given to motornlen and conductors when the cars were taken out in the morning, and again when they were returned to the shed, for the" purpose of attending to tho mechanism or other parts of "the car. "Some people think,'' Mr Hunter added, "that .the men are really getting something for nothing in these time allowances, but in reality, if tho men carried out all the instructions that the board has issued to them, the time occupied would be considerably longer."

SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD ON SATURDAY.

Mr Hiram Hunter, secretary of die Tramway Union, has received a letter from Mr Frank Thompson, general manager of tho C'liristehurch tramways, "stating thatr*the sub-committee of the board set up in connection with the die-puto will meet the union's representatives in conference on Friday morning, at eleven o'clock. A special meeting of the Tramway Board will take place on Saturday morning, at eleven, o'clock, when the sub-committee'!? report will bo presented and considered. . It is understood that in the event of the board's decision being unfavourable to the union, a meeting of all me; 1 "*- hers of the union will ho held at mid"night on Saturday.
