HANMER SPRINGS CLTJB. The HanmeT Spring's Golf Club held its opening day on the links on Monday- The weather right- up to the conclusion of the events was fine, but a heavy storm broke just as tho players were preparing to leave the links. Over forty took part in the play, quite a large number of soldiers participating. The visitors at the Lodge donated the prizes, and took keen interest in the various games, sparing no trouble to make the day an enjoyable on*. All the events were keenly contested. The following are the results:— No. 1 match—Burr 1, Burke 9; No. 3 match —Burke 1, Taylor Q; No. 8 match— Read and Farmer, equal, 1; men's driving competition—Brydone (178yds) 1, Reid (lG9yd3) 2, Hammond (167yds) 8; ladies' driving competition—Mrs Hewlett 1, Mrs Dodda 2.
