FARMERS' UNION.
NORTH CANTERBURY EXECUTIVE. The North Canterbury Executive of tho New Zealand Fanners' Union met yesterday, Mr D. Jones (president) in the chair There was a good attendance of delegates. On the motion of Mr D. Bates, a special committee, consisting of the piesident, vicepresident, Mr R. Evans and tho mover, was set up to inquire into several matters afioc.ing tho welfare ot tho farming community, to report at an t-arly date Proposals from the Dominion Conference in regard to internal organise ion were defeired till next meeting. A matter of graduated subscriptions was referred to the sub-commit-tee set up on Mr Ba es’s> mo.ion lust previously. To the same committco was referred a letter from the Empire League ashing for support for its policy. A tele? ram was received from Mr P. Virtue, miller, Auckland, expressing a preference for Now Zealand wheat oyer the imported Australian article for milling purposes. It was decided to write thanking Mr \ irtuo. Reports were made by the president, vicepresident (Hr IV. A. Banks) and Mr G. W. Leadley, delegates to ilio Dominion Conference, after which tho meeting adjourned.
