RUGBY INTERCOLLEGIATE TOURNAMENT. [Per Press Association.] WANGANUI. August 28,

The second game of the annual intercollege for,tball tournament was played yesterday, when, after a fast and exceedingly hard game, Wellington College beat Christ’s College by 6 points to 3. The play was chiefly confined to the forwards, though at times ’Hindmarsh and Wilson for Christ’s College and Dav.dson, Nicoll and Ward for Wellington made some fine ruts. Nicoll and Davidson scored .tries for Wellington, and Hindmarsh scored for Christ’s Col.ege.

Tho third match of the school tournament took place to-day, when Nelson College mot the High School, the visitors winning by 13 to 3.

INVERCARGILL, August 28. In a primary schools representative Rugby game, Southland beat Otago by 8 points to nil.

THE LEAGUE GAME. PONSONBY v. SYDENHAM.

The Rugby League Champion Shield match between Ponsonby and Sydenham will take place at Sydenham Park on Saturday. The secretary of the local executive received advice from Auckland yesterday -.hat ihe Ponsonby men wore leaving for Christchurch, and that the club had beer fortunate enough o secure leave for their be3t team, and S. Lowry would now bo available in place of D. M'Carthy, who is first reserve. Mr A. E. Hooper has been asked by the Aucklanders to referee, and Mr A. Howison will officia o as touch judge for the local club. There will be a frequent tram service, as in addition to the regular sou h-bound ears, the .oca 1 traffic superintendent will have extra cars available. Ample sealing accommodation, including a large number of lesorved seats, will bo avai'able. A Third Grade match will be played as a curtain-raiser, commencing at 1.10 p.m. The visiters will be welcomed on arrival. On Saturday evening' they will be entertained by the local club, and on Sunday they will bo the gues 3 of Dr Thacker, M.P., at a motor party to Akaroa.
