SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
At a meeting of the Cashmere School committee there were present- Mr J. C. Prudhoo (chairman), Mesdames E. Stocks and F. O. Andrews, and Messrs E. H. Murriner, G. W. Atmore and A. C. Andrews, Tho Improvements Committee xonorted that a contract had been made with Messrs Craig and Roberts for the erection of a low stone wall on either side of the Dyer’s Pass R-oad entrance, levelling the ground and preparing it for planting, as well ns asphalting a large area round the school buildings. The Board of Education wrote acknowledging receipt of the committee's cheque for £293 12s, net proceeds of May Queen carnival, and eta ting that the money had been paid to the committee’s credit and the subsidy earned would also bo paid when received from the Education Department. The board also stated that the services ot its arehitec.—Mr Remington—would be available for supervising tho erection of shelter sheds and other contemplated improvements. The chairman reported that Mr Martin, agricultural instructor, would supervise the planting of the grounds. The secretary was instructed to invito Mr b. Koetley to co-operate with the Improvements Committee. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the head master. Mr W. A. Stout, for his gift oi i. b'jolc case. An application from the Social Hygienic Society for permission ior Captain l et tit to address tho boys of the upper standards on social hygiene was granted.
