CRICKET.
LINWOOD CLUB. The annual meeting of tho Linwood Cricket Club was held in the Linwood Chess Club rooms, JRolieston Street, on Saturday night. Mr W. L. King presided. The annual report reviewed tho activities of the club duiiug tho past'season, in wh»ch the club had been successful in gaining the .'Senior championship for .he third time _in suceesßion. Since the .last annual meeting .several membors of the'club had made the supreme saenfico. One member, Mr L. Bui lock, had beon awarded tho Military Meual The recent ballots had fur.her depleted tho membership of the club, Messrs Bead, Weston (2) and King having been drawn, and therefore would not be able to play duiring the coming season. These members carried with them the best wishes of tho club for their welfare. The bost thanks of the club were due to the president and vice-presidtnt 'for their financial assistance during the year, and to Mr A. E. Salvesen for soaring every Satuday until the la6t few nuitclies, when his health forced him to relinquish the task. The balance-sheet showed receipts 41 17s 7d, and expenses £3B 3s lid, leaving a credit balance of £3 13s Sd. The assets showed a balance of £5 over liabilities. It/ was considered that, in view of the abnormal times, the financial situation of the club was satisfactory. Tho report and balance-sheet were adopted. • . A motion of sympa'hy withthe relatives of members of the club who had fallen at the front since last annual mee'ing was carried in silence, those present standing. Officers wi.re elected as follows:—Prcndcnt v Mr F. Wilding; vice-pre?idents, Messrs K. M. Ollivier and W. W. Keeley; club captain, Mr A E. Doell; honorary secretary, Mr H. Forsvth; honorary auditor Mr A. E Salvesen; committee, Messrs A. W. Thomas, A. Lilburne, K. Perrin, H. E. Lawrence, L. Bai'cy, P. L. Flee'e and C. Francis; selector Mr P. Flocte; delega'es to the Canterbury Cricket Association, Me?srs A. W. Thomas, H. E. Lawrence, H. Forsyth and K. Perrin; delegato to the Sports Protection Association!' Mr H. Niven; assistant secretary, Mr H. Niven. Ten new members were elected. It was decided to wri'e to the Hagloy Park Ground Committeo asking for the ground (two wicke's) on the same terms as last weapon. It was dco ; d"d to arrange a ?ame with the' St Albans club on the opening day.
