MEETING OF COMMITTEE;', The general committee of the Can,t crbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association met yesterday. Mr R. W. Lochhead (president) presided over a fair attendance of members. Majesty's .Theatre The secretary stated that he had replied to Colonel SnoWj thanking him for his offer. Tho Wuirarapa and East Coast Pastoral and Agricultural Society wrote, .asking for support to the following resolution:—" Tnat in the interests oi the dairy industry of the Dominion the Government bo urged to prohibit tho export'of white pine timber from New Zc&land,. and also that the Governamit de urged to plant at once trees.of a suitable character for the making oi cheese cases and butter boxes.'.' After a short discussion it was decided to support the resolution. Accounts' amounting to £BS 2s 9d were passed' for payment. Messrs J. Deans, T. D. Boag and R. W. Lochhead were appointed delegates to the coming Agricultural Conference. It was decided to send the following remits to tho annual conference:— " That the Government be asked to appoint an advisory board to assist the Government in the distribution and sale of . electricity; that the Government should control the price and distribution of petrol and retain future shipments for necessary industries." The Sheep Committee reported that with reference to the letter of the Gtago Agricultural and Pastoral Society, proposing that the Department of Agriculture be asked to certify to the value of nil sheep dips offered for sale, the committee had suggested to the Agricultural Department that all >hpep dips be and the list be published in tho Department's "Journal " each year. It was recommended that in the ballot for position of sale at ram fair i system be adopted whereby each auctioneer be allotted numbers in lots for wile on the basis of the number of entries received from them, thus giving ?ach auctioneer ah equal chance in the ballot. The-ques-tion of rebate to auctioneers had been, discussed, and it was agreed to recommend that the rebate of 10 per cent on fees collected be discontinued. The committee further recommended that the luncheon in the office at the ram fair be discontinued, and that lunch tickets be: issued to members of committee for lunch in the public luncheon booth.
