BOROUGH COUNCILS.
EAIAPOI. Tho Kaiapoi Borough Council met last evening; present—Councillors W. Doublcday (in tho chair), H. MTntoßh, J. Bryden, J. Barnard, A. Blakeley, J. V. Crawf.haw, R. Dunn. T. R. Leithcad- and L. B. The 'Rangiora County Council wrote that tho road to the peach would bo repaired, but owing to the labour shortage, it was found impossible to shinglo it till after the harvest. Borough councillors were invited to meet tho county councillors to discuss the Government . Engineer’* report on the Cam bridge. It was decided to suggest that the meeting be held on tho first Thursday in January. The Lighting Committee was authorised to procure a supply of clectrio lamps, and it was decided to invito tender’s for tho olectric wiring of_ tho band rotunda. Motions of sympathy with tho relatives of tho lato Sir C. (j. Bowen and Mr R. 31. Vright were carried in silonco. Tljo Finance Committee reported that the receipts were £22 17s and tho credit balanco was £275 15s 7d. Accounts amounting !o Ao6 3s lOd were passed for payment.
