If tho reception accorded to Mr Hughes on his arrival in Sydney is any criterion of referendum feeling the Government supporters must have telt highly gratified. Thousands of returned soldiers met Mr Hughes at the station and carried him shoulder high, and there was a remarkable, demonstration through the crowded streets. His speeches were wildly cheered. It is probably tho greatest reception Mr Hughes has ever had.
