THE ASSOCIATION GAME.
TO-DAY’S REPEKSEKTATIYE MATCHES. - Much interest is being- shown locally in the inter-provincial Association Football match between Canterbury and Wellington to bo played at English Park to-day. The visiting! team is .acknowledged to bo the stronges combination sent on tour for some years, and as there is veTy fino talent available in Canterbury an excellent game should: result. Tho big match will bo preceded by a “ curtain raiser,” tho competing teams being; players 1 under fourteen years of age representing Canterbury and Wellington. Tho kick off is c.t 1 p.m. Tho chief match, which is for players under twenty years of age, will commenca at 2.80 p.m. The teams are as follow: Wellington—F. Cox (goal), G.. Ward and Wnnden (backs), Crane, J. Russell (captain) and Raribv (halves), Halley, Owens, Mario, Houston end Spencer (forwards); reserve— CY nte r bury—Dob h 3 (goal), Mahan. Coomber (backsh Lilburn, Flood and Burnside (halves). Cummings, Jewell, Parlett, Watson and Kirk (forwards); rescrve--Firipi. A Rugby match was played on Saturday at North Park between No. 1 and No. 2 Companies Railway Engineers, The former winning by 23 points to ml. Tries were scored by Brown (3), Lockton (2), Cam and Thornton, 0110 being converted by Cam. A football match was played at Rangiora on Friday between tho Ramnora and Kaipoi Borough School teams. The former won by 9 points to 6. Mr J. M’Kenzie was re-fen-e. The visitors were entertained at.afternoon tea by tho teachers and senior scholars.
