Further information regarding the ■revolt in Notv Caledonia, shows that six settlers were massacred by Kanakas. The natives were armed with rifles. The trouble started at Pouembaut and Heiugheuo, where houses were burned and several settlers were wounded.

Natives and Kanakas assisted the troops to suppress the rising.
