RED CROSS WORK.

LADIES' COMMITTEE. The Women's Committee of iho Red Cross organisation met at the ' Red Cross rooms yesterday, Mrs A. Boyle presiding. .Mr A. E. G. .Rhodes, chairman of committees, was also present. Letters of acknowledgment from the New Zealand War Contingent Association and other recipients of consignments were read and received. The packing department reported the dispatch of 130 cases valued ab £'2lßß. Sixteen of these were from Timaru, three from Greymouth, and the remainder from Christchurch. The receiving department reported the receipt of 18,310 articles. The sales department reported that the salo of garments had produced £1451 12s, and the sale of wool £230 5s Id. The bandage department reported an output of 58,384 articles. Tho comforts department uported the receipt of cash donations amounting to £173 17s Id, and an expenditure of £450 5s lid. Tho city department reported that 6583 articles had been made up and sent to the central depot. Special donations amounting to £493 18s 5d were reported. The bandage department specially reported urging branches to send in manitail bandages, either folded in the now way or unfolded altogether, to save room in the packing cases. Mr A. E. G. Rhodes reported regard-; ing the business transacted at the recent conference in Wellington. It was reported that the general executive had undertaken to supply one quarter of the requirements of tho hospital ship Marama. It. was reported that Mr D. Rutherford and other members of the EtuUierford family were making extensive and regular weekly donations of urovwwns for the Hanmer Hospital*
