ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

KNOCKED OFF WAGGON. Mr James May, carter and mail carrier between Raugiora and Birch Hill, met with au accident yesterday morning that will lay him up for some weeks. He liad a four-ton load of green flax, on his waggon, and when turning at the Rangiora post office corner some of the bundles of flax slipped, knocking him off the waggon. He fell on to the road, the back wheel of the waggon passing over both legs. Mr May was taken to the Brocklehurst hospital, and on examination by Dr Burnett it was found that one leg was badly bruised and a small bone broken, and "the calf of thto other leg was severelv crushed and lacerated.

FOUND ON RAILWAY LINE. About seven o'clock last evening a man named T. H. Murray, of Invercargill, was found lying on the railway line about a milo from the Templeton station. He had apparently fallen from the express traiin and when discovered was suffering from shock and was in a serious condition. He was subsequently removed to tho Christchuvch Hospital, where ho was found to be sutfering from injuries to the head and body, and an operation was performed. At an early hour this morning Murray was still unconscious.
