f' PROTEST AGAINST EXEMPTION A OF SECTARIAN SCHOOLS. At a largely attended meeting of school |eachers in the Normal School on-Saturday morning, the subject of exemptions from military sendee was broached. Mr A. F. Barrell, in moving a motion of protest, said that a great deal of public dissatisfaction was shown because the children of Stato schools were losing their teachers, while exemptions were being granted to some private school teache-rs an the ground of public interest. Tho only plea put forth by these appellants, had been that their pupils would have to join the State schools. Mr Barrell moved:— “That this meeting of teachers protests against the exemption frim rilitary service of private, sectarian schools, while State school teachers are called upon to join tho Expeditionary Forces, and that- this protest be forwarded to the Education Board.” The motion was carried unanimously.
